All About BA LLB

BA LLB is also known as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. This is a five-year integrated programme designed for candidates who have completed Senior Secondary education. This course is meant for those who wish to enter into the field of litigation or advocacy and aspire to become advocates or judges. The relevance of this course is proven by the fact that every law school enrols hundreds of students for this prestigious course.

What is BA LLB degree?

BA LLB is an undergraduate programme which introduces learners to the basic principles of social sciences as well as in-depth learning of Law. Earlier, candidates who completed graduation pursued three-year LLB programme but after the establishment of National Law Universities, five-year LLB programme became widely popular. This course is divided into ten semesters and candidates take up core lessons on Arts as well as Law courses.

Who can pursue BA LLB?

BA LLB can be pursued after completing Class 12th, therefore being one of the most popular career choices after engineering and medical. Private colleges as well as government colleges accept entrance scores in order to admit candidates in this course. Students from any background can pursue BA LLB but must have cleared state-level or national-level entrance exams such as CLAT, MHCET, DU LLB, CUET UG, AILET, LSAT, AMU Entrance Exam etc.

What is the scope of BA LLB?

After completing BA LLB, one can choose to pursue higher studies by enrolling themselves in LLM and PhD. This will help candidates to make a career in academics. Similarly, one can enrol in the State Bar Council and practise as an advocate. They can also work as legal consultants or advisors across MNCs and other government organisations.  

Eligibility

A candidate for admission to this course must have passed 10+2 examination of Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognized as such by the Gur Nanak Dev University , Amritsar securing not less than 45% marks. In case of SC/ST candidates 40% marks of the total Marks. Medium of Instruction of Examination shall be English.
