GIMET Seminars & Guest Lectures

To make the students aware of the new technologies and other environmental and technical developments, extension lectures are organized from time to time by inviting enlightened professionals from industries and other institutes of international repute.

The Electrocrates Club of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a guest lecture on “Evolution in Electronics and Communication Engineering” . The learned scholar, Dr Ravinder Singh Sawhney, Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication engineering, GNDU, enlightened the students and the faculty on the key developments in electronics and its application which brought about revolutionary transformations in the modern world.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized PTU Sponsored One week Faculty Development Programme on “Emerging Trends in Artificial Intelligence”. The main focus of FDP was to explain knowledge representation, problem solving and learning methods of Artificial Intelligence and its applications.

A Two-Day “International Conference on Communication, Information and Computing Technology” (ICCICT-2015) was organized by the Department of Computer Applications and Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Two- day National Conference on “Inter- Disciplinary Research in Engineering Technology & Management” was organized at the campus. The Conference brought together more than 100 scholars from different Universities and Colleges across India.

In order to bridge the gap between the Industry and the Institutes and also to spread the awareness about creating quality in the manufacturing processes, a seminar on the topic ‘E-Foundry: Casting Design and Simulation’ was organized wherein the representatives of Industry and Academia were invited.

Mr. Tejinder Singh Aulakh, Sr. Design Engineer, Intel Inc. USA educated the Global students about the “Role of Mechanical Engineers in Design of Processors”.

Mr. K.K. Sharma, Head- Operations, Videocon delivered a guest lecture to our students.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized National Workshop on “Optical Wireless Communication”. Dr. M.L. Singh, HOD ECE and Dr. Rajinder Sahni, Prof. from Guru Nanak Dev University discussed optical fibre communication and wireless sensor network & routing algorithms in detail.

Mr. Vinayak Shankar Gogate, Asst Gen Manager (Crash Safety) Tata Motors held an interactive session with ME students on the topic of Crash Safety Technology. In his stimulating talk, he put special focus on areas like passive safety, regulatory compliance, crash test dummies & injury bio mechanics.

Mr. Mukul Sharma, Head, Business Transformation, Tata Consultancy Services, USA shared his vast experience and views on “Technology Enabled Business Transformation”.

Global Institutes organized One Week Faculty Development Program on the topic “Recent Trends of Communication in Engineering Application”. The FDP was sponsored by PTU with the objective to spread awareness regarding latest developments in the field of Communication Engineering.

The Department of Applied Sciences Global Institutes, Amritsar organized one day seminar on the topic “Ecology, Society, Role of Youth in Conservation”. Well known environmentalist Sh. Umendra Dutt, Executive Director of Kheti Virasat Mission was the key note speaker.

Dr. M.K. Tiwari, Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, IIT-Kharagpur, a reputed academician having more than 25 years of teaching and research experience and contribution of 175 quality research papers in well- known International Journals, shared his own experiences on the benefits of research oriented teaching right from Undergraduate level with the faculty.

In continuation of the series of the lectures from renowned professors of IITs and other institutes of national importance, Global Institutes invited Dr. Sudheer Kumar Barai, Professor in Civil Engg. & Chairman, Career Development Centre at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Professor Barai spoke on the topic ‘Soft Computing Applications’.

ECE and CSE department of Global Institutes organized a workshop on “Network Simulator-2 ” Expert trainers Mr. Umesh Yadav, Vimal Diixit and Mr. Ashwani from NEX-G Institute, Noida shared their useful experience and valuable knowledge with the students.

Hon’ble Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, PTU, visited Global Institutes on April 21, 2010. He interacted with Management and Staff on “HUMAN VALUES AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS” He presented his views regarding the significant role played by Value Education, Sanyama and Swasthya in human life that further leads to self-exploration. He laid emphasis on maintaining equilibrium between the Basic Human Aspirations and Harmony at various levels for leading a happy and prosperous life.

Dr. Balwinder Singh, Prof. & Head, Deptt. Of Commerce and Business Management, G.N.D.U., Amritsar delivered a lecture on Research Methodology. He impressed upon the members of the staff and the students to develop an aptitude that results in original research in the fields of management and social sciences.

Mr. Ranjan Vashisht, Deputy GM, Maruti Udyog, Gurgaon, addressed the MBA students and expressed his views on “Motivation and Japanese Culture”. He explained that motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action towards a desired goal.

Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, Head, Department of Commerce and Management, GNDU, Amritsar addressed the MBA & MCA students on the importance of “Time Management” in our daily life and gave a number of practical tips to the students in an interactive session.

Dr. Padam Nabh Vasudeva, State Coordinator of Central Govt. addressed the MBA students on “Personality Development and Career Building”. The objective of workshop was to acquaint the students with the skills required for better career & personality.

Dr. Sucha Singh Gill, Director General, Centre for Research in Rural & Industrial Development Chandigarh addressed the MBA students and expressed his views on the very significant topic ‘Why Inclusive Growth Does Not Take Place’. He targeted on the concept of inequality which is still residing / existing in our country & counts to be a big hurdle in the economic growth of the country.
