The second and the concluding day of the Global Premier League 2022 being played at the Global Group of Institutes, turned out to be an absolute thriller for the spectators gathered to watch the two semi finals and the final of the league at the Global Cricket grounds on Saturday 12th of March 2022.
The four teams that qualified for the semi finals played on the knock-out basis were B.Tech-CSE, B.Tech.- Civil Engineering, Diploma in Engineering and HMCT.
The first Semi Final was played between the teams of HMCT and Pharmacy which turned out to be a one sided affair with Pharmacy team succumbing to a fine bowling attack and were trounced by 7 wickets by HMCT team. The second semi final played between B.Tech.-CSE and B.Tech.-Civil Engineering teams, turned out to be a treat for the spectators as both the teams played with zeal and concentration for the honour putting in all their efforts to outplay the other. B.Tech. CSE team chased the target of 71 runs put up by B.Tech. Civil Engineering team in 9.3 overs to cement their place in the final.
In the final played between B.Tech.- CSE and HMCT teams, turned out to be thriller in which B.Tech. CSE team batting first set a target of 97 runs for HMCT and the HMCT team while chasing achieved the target on the last ball of the match to win by 08 wickets and retain the GPL Trophy 2022.
Mr. Jatinder Kumar Captain of HMCT who scored 49 runs remained unbeaten and guided his team to victory, was declared ‘Man of the Tournament’.
Dr. B.S. Chandi, Chairman, Global Group of Institutes awarded the trophy, to the winning team and medals and certificates to the winners and the runner ups. He lauded the efforts of the players to make the league a success with their hard work on the field and putting in their best in a healthy sporting atmosphere during the GPL-2022.
On this occasion Dr. M.S. Saini, Campus Director, Prof. B.D. Sharma, Director Admissions, Dean & Principal Mr.Amit Hasija, Principal Charanjit Singh, Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Mr. Dilraj Singh, Coaches and mentors of both the teams were present alongwith a large number of students present to cheer their favourite teams.
