A very informative and useful lecture was delivered on When to think about’ an Onco-Surgeon” on 24th January 2024 by Dr. Sheshank Mahajan, MBBS, MS Surgery, Mch. Surgical Oncology, who is a specialist working at a local IVY Hospital, Amritsar.
Dr. Sheshank Mahajan started his lecture with general introduction of cancer. He focussed on etiology (cause) of cancer, its treatment and prevention. He shared very vital statistics relating to mortality and morbidity of cancer of different organs.
He enlightened the students on the types of cancers common among males and females.
He further said that the breast cancer is rapidly increasing in India among females whereas among the males it’s the cancer of prostate & stomach that is rapidly increasing.
He has also talked about the treatment of this deadly disease available both in India and abroad.
The lecture was very fruitful and enriched the existing knowledge of the students. It was highly appreciated by the staff and students.
