The objective of the visit was to familiarize students with blood bank practices and the overall healthcare environment through direct exposure. The hospital housed several departments, including the blood bank unit, physiotherapy, operation theatre, emergency and trauma care, critical care, and pharmacy. Students were divided into groups and taken to the blood bank unit, where Mr. Jatinderpal and Ms. Jashdeep Kaur, both laboratory technicians, explained and demonstrated various blood bank procedures. Students learned about the handling, testing, and preparation of blood and its components to ensure safe transfusion practices.
The visit served as an effective bridge between theoretical learning and practical experience, deepening the students’ knowledge of healthcare services.
In summary, the visit was both informative and engaging, equipping students with valuable insights into laboratory techniques and their crucial role in overall health management.
