MOOT COURT COMPETITION AT GLOBAL GROUP OF INSTITUTES
School of Legal Studies successfully hosted a prestigious Moot Court Competition on 11th March 2025.
It was on the Consumer Protection Act 2019.
The competition provided an excellent platform for law students to showcase their advocacy skills, legal reasoning, and understanding of consumer rights and protection laws.
The event was inaugurated by Vice Chairman, Dr. Akashdeep Singh, alongwith
Dr. P.K. Sharma Dean Student Welfare and Director Admissions Prof. B.D. Sharma.
Present on the occasion were Advocate Sumant Tuteja, Advocate Vishal Gogna and Advocate Ms. Shivani Arora from Bar Council of India Amritsar.
Advocate Sumant Tuteja highlighted the significance of consumer rights in today’s marketplace.
The competition witnessed participation from 8 teams of students who gave convincing legal arguments before an esteemed panel of judges.
The moot court followed a rigorous structure with preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and a grand finale. Participants argued hypothetical consumer disputes, focusing on key issues such as unfair trade practices, defective products, misleading advertisements and consumer rights.
The final round saw an intense legal battle. The teams presented persuasive arguments, demonstrating in-depth legal research and courtroom etiquettes.
The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony, where the Chief Guest Advocate Sumant Tuteja emphasized the importance of consumer protection laws in safeguarding public interests.
The organizers extended gratitude to faculty members, and student volunteers for making the event a resounding success.
The competition not only enhanced the participants’ understanding of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, but also reinforced the role of legal education in shaping future advocates committed to justice and consumer rights.
After a thrilling contest the following students were declared as winners:
1st position ,-Ms. Avneet kaur
2nd position -Ms. Harpreet Kaur
3rd position-Ms. Mannat kaur.
Ms. Navreen Kaur was declared as as the best speaker.
Dr. Gaurav Khanna, Head of the Department of School of Legal Studies thanked the esteemed guests for conducting Moot Competitions. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the faculty members and the students for organizing the competition so well in a very short time. He emphasized the role of moot court exercises in refining advocacy skills of law students.
It was also decided to hold such competitions on regular basis in future.
